Atomkraft nein danke- Kernenergie neen!

Het lange nu

Het lange nu
10.000 jaar
wie kan dit dan
lezen
het symbool begrijpen

wie weet dan
zoekend
naar oorzaak
van halftijd en
naaktverkoop
van wat hoelang
dan nog
komt
nu
10.000
jaar van nu
de late last
van splijtzwam
en splijtstof

wij allen leven
in de halveringstijd
van het lange
nu -

Kernenergie neen bedankt

Carne vale

Golden shoes
and lace
on a bony knee
of aged Sundays
and pearl
around necks of
sagging flesh
waiting
in excitement
for the procession
of shared solitude
Behind the ardent rows
the beauties
pass
no need yet
for this wait
that brings out but
saints
Their time is to night
the fiesta of the flesh
forgotten the
Carne vale
of their mothers in the street

A carnival in Valencia... Brides walking to the sea

About death and living again

The poet Bart Stouten in the shade and applauding hands in the foreground...
The applause was well earned for the new book' Tussen Dood en Herleven'.
Two of the keynote speakers  could not be present. Luckily Bart, cool as ever,  just told  about the 4 parts of the book. The inspiration was the close friendship with the MUHKA-curator Jan Foncé who has passed away. The presentation was organized in the museum café where Floris De Rycker played baroque music on the lute. Friends, admirers and lovers of art and literature gathered for the ocasion.

Even the books arrived on time.

And then he read some poetry...  Well you just will have to get the book.
Thanks for a wonderful and warm afternoon and  beautiful poetry.

Ok, Tomorrow I'll post the last poem he read but in its English translation...

Poetry is... by Bart Stouten

POEZIE IS…

dempen wil. Poëzie is eindeloos onthouden,
slangen. De gevaarlijkste ter wereld.
Poëzie is eerder Australië dan Europa,
liever de woestijn dan de outback,
een continent van verlatenheid waar iemand
toch is komen wonen.

PS. Vergeet het beeld van de naaimachine,
met vingerhoed voor het ontsporen.
Haute couture is voor de catwalk
en haar terreur van anorexia nervosa.

Poetry is ...

Poetry is everything, dressed up as hardly anything.
The margin, of course, the stable broom,
the exhaust system. Poetry is that one time
you hang loose, and pass the helm
to a sickening germ. Fresh falling apart,
lower-stream language to scream out
one's fear along the way. Arriving, coming,
touched and all steamed up. Fuming
like an accident on asphalt in the heat.
This not knowing anymore, near death experience
and then the unspeakable light of
bliss. Poetry is a mantra,
booming in your body, erasing all its egos.
Monks in abbeys filled with diversions.
Wandering thoughts you by no means
want to quench. Poetry is endless remembering,
rewriting a lot because you're unfinished
at the core of your being.
        No romantic bleating is poetry
about a lost aboriginal in the outback,
yet finding an empty beer bottle
in red sand, with its behind language hidden
snakes. The most dangerous in the world.
Poetry rather is Australia than Europe,
rather dessert than outback,
a continent of loneliness where someone
nevertheless came to live. Poetry is the call
of foolish adventure. An albatross
to be saved. Not by singing him.
Poetry is a way of life like an appellation contrôlée.
No label is poetry, no party, no letter,
but a ps.

ps. Forget the image of the sowing machine,
with a thimble in case of derailment.
Haute couture is for the catwalk
and its terror of anorexia nervosa.

No more war

Wake
(Lente 2003 Antwerpen)

Hoeveel kaarsen

nieuwe generaal
met het juiste woord
voor elk soort dood

            liefde en hoop
            gaan op in rook
**

 Mahn Wache

(Frühjahr 2003 in Antwerpen)

neuen Generals
mit dem rechten Wort
für jede Sorte Tod

    Liebe Hoffnung
    gehen auf im Rauch

übersetzung: Fred Schywek
 **
Vigil

How many candles did I not burn for you
for peace
The engines on the flight path
of evil
boom
in the corners of the room
           cramp the heart
in the silence of the house
I learn the language
of a new general
with a word in mind
for death of every kind

Love and hope
are lost in smoke

Will be published in Spuren-Sporen- Traces

2

Het heeft vogels nodig
om te zingen
mensen om te verdwijnen

zon en maanlicht
om kleur te bekennen:

hoe geladen het is
met betekenissen
in spiegelschrift –

Tekens om met hand en tand
te ontcijferen

want op het lijf geschreven
van wie je voorging
op de weg naar het einde –
 *
Es braucht Vögel
um zu singen
Menschen zu verschwinden

Sonne und Mondlicht
um Farbe zu bekennen:

wie beladen es ist
mit Bezeichnungen
in Spiegelschrift

Zeichen mit Klaue und Haar
zu entziffern,

weil auf den Leib geschrieben
so wie du vorgingst
auf dem Weg zum Ende
*
It needs birds
to sing
people to disappear

sun and moonlight
to show one's color:

how charged it is
with meanings
in mirror-writing -

Signs to decipher
with tooth and nail

because inscribed all over the body
of who before you took
the road to the end

In one breath

Today Poetry day in Holland and Belgium, The book In einem Atemzug, In een adem, In one breath, wib, 2011, will be presented  during the eight honorable poetesses who will read to night in the old city center of Antwerp in the literary Café den Hopsack.

She will open with the cycle Life, accompanied  by Jean Demey. Both have worked together often with wonderful results.

Life
1

It doesn't let go of you
even if sometimes
without a leash hoping for the best
you let it run away -

It attacks you
even if it wears
a constant muzzle:

a precaution
taken in a moment
when the clock declines
to regulate
the traffic of time -

It throws sand in your eyes
as foam on your lips
it stays behind

so that, in order to speak one word,
your anger first
has to be laid out
like a corpse

not yet decomposing
but inclined
to do so
without further notice

but the teeth-grinding
of light
on the threshold
of high shadow
wanting to devour everything -
